about the artist

Miquela Davis (she/her) is an Orange County, CA Native, descended from the Acjachemen. Her works vary in mediums from photography to comics to zines. She enjoys experimentation with zinemaking and encouraging others through her workshops and classes to use the medium of zines as a form of accessibility in self expression and the art world. Her zines primarily feature anthropomorphic animals and diary comics.
She enjoys the catharsis and education that comes with creating comics about navigating disability and chronic illness as well as the escapism of writing and drawing comics that bring joy and laughter to others.Miquela studied film photography and cinema in college before dropping out and becoming a certified teaching artist instead. She is now the Education Director of Center for the Arts Eagle Rock, overseeing all arts educational programming and camps for this city of Los Angeles arts non-profit organization.
